US Navy secretary seeks to recommend new CNO nominee rapidly

08 July 2019

Facing a deadline and the pressure of controversy, US Navy (USN) Secretary Richard Spencer plans to recommend a new chief of naval operations (CNO) nominee to replace Admiral Bill Moran, the officer chosen for the post, who withdrew his name earlier this month due to “judgement” issues.

Adm Moran was to replace Admiral John Richardson, the current CNO, later this month.
