Northrop secures contract to deliver Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission system

Northrop Grumman has been awarded from Space Norway a contract to deliver Arctic Satellite Broadband Mission (ASBM) system, the company announced on 3 July in a press release.

The ASBM satellites will carry multiple-hosted payloads including a Ka-Band payload for Inmarsat and an X-Band payload for the Norwegian Ministry of Defence (MoD), according to the company.

Under the award, the company will be tasked for the design, manufacture, and integration of two satellites and for providing critical ground infrastructure.

The company noted that the satellites will be based on GEOStar platform which has been integrated on over 40 spacecrafts.
