Saab aims to strengthen its technological expertise in sensors and materials via a new framework partnership with the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, the Swedish company announced in a 26 June statement.
It added that research co-operation in “mutually interesting” areas, including materials and sensors across the Saab portfolio, would also ensure security of supply.
“Our sensor and material technology is top class, and we want to remain continuously ahead in the field,” said Saab chief technology officer Pontus de Laval.
VTT declined to provide Jane’s with further details of specific projects to be explored in the framework partnership, citing a bilateral non-disclosure agreement, but information in the public domain shows that the Finnish research institute specialises in ensuring the security of complex digital information systems.
