A consortium of companies has opened a new facility in Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi for the assembly of military aerial and maritime targets.
The Houbara Defence and Security joint venture (JV) is formed of Middle East General Enterprises (MGE) and QinetiQ, leveraging the latter's experience in developing targets and carrying out test and evaluation services into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market.
The facility will initially manufacture QinetiQ's Jet Banshee aerial target, which is used to simulate the threat from aircraft for the test of air-defence systems, and the Hammerhead maritime target, designed to simulate fast inshore attack craft.
