Saudi Arabia is looking to establish nine sites related to the Terminal High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) system it is in the process of acquiring, according to a solicitation for an architect-engineer design contract posted on the US government’s Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website on 7 June.
The solicitation said the US Army Corps of Engineers intends to award a contract with an estimated value of USD90 million covering “military mission facility and infrastructure design requirements” for the Saudi THAAD programme. The work is expected to last one year but could be extended by a further six years with options.
