The German Federal Ministry of Defence (MoD) has awarded a subsidiary of Elbit Systems a contract to supply E-LynX PNR 1000 soldier personal radios in handheld and vehicular configurations to the German Army, the company announced in a press release on 4 June.
The system, which was developed for continuous communications in urban warfare, is intended for use at micro-tactical levels. According to the company, the system will be used at the platoon and company levels and will be installed on board of infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) including the SPz Puma.
The PNR 1000 is a personal network radio with automatic voice and data relay.
