EU inches toward full correlation of its transport spending with military mobility needs

Nearly 95% of Europe’s transport infrastructure considered as relevant by national capitals for their military mobility needs overlaps with the geographic scope of the European Commission’s trans-European transport network (TEN-T) programme, according to the EU’s latest report on the subject. That number could rise even further as military planners refine their requirements by mid-2019, it says.

“Overall, the assessment is positive…with a large part of the military standards considered as compatible with the trans-European transport network requirements,” asserts the Commission in its latest report on the EU’s standing Action Plan on Military Mobility. The nine-page report was released on 3 June.
