The Royal Thai Army (RTA) has placed a bid to procure the M1126 Stryker 8×8 infantry combat vehicle (ICV) produced by General Dynamics Land Systems, the RTA announced on 14 May.
The deal, which reflects the reinvigorated US-Thailand defence ties, will feature the RTA’s acquisition of 37 vehicles for THB2.96 billion (USD94 million) and an additional 23 units funded by US military assistance.
The deal also includes undisclosed weapons and communications systems, as well as spare parts and training to support localised maintenance and repair.
The programme is expected to progress through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) mechanism, with the first batch of Stryker ICVs delivered by late 2019.
