The US Marine Corp (USMC) is taking steps to better understand artificial intelligence (AI) technology and how it could be integrated into the service’s weapon systems, with numerous experiments currently under way, according to the commander of the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory.
“There’s a lot at play,” Brigadier General Christian Wortman told attendees at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space exposition on 8 May, held in National Harbor, Maryland. “AI is a very fluid and dynamic environment and there is a lot of room for experimentation. And we’re doing a lot during the course of that experimentation. We’ve got a really robust approach for executing that experimentation.”
