New Brazilian Navy aviation squadron receives first H225M helicopter

One of the Brazilian Navy’s new aviation squadrons has received its first Airbus Helicopters H225M platform. The new unit is the General Helicopter Squadron–North (1º Esquadrão de Helicópteros de Emprego Geral do Norte: 1ºEsqdHU-41), which will be headquartered in Belém in Pará state.

1ºEsqdHU-41 will be assigned to the fourth naval district (Comando do 4º Distrito Naval: Com4ºDN) and will be officially inaugurated on 31 January 2020, the navy said on 2 May. The squadron will be based in the facilities of the Air Force’s Wing 9 in Belém.

The new helicopter was received in a ceremony on 1 May and another two platforms are expected to arrive this year.
