Kongsberg to supply additional bridge simulators for RAN

07 May 2019

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has awarded Kongsberg Digital a contract for the delivery of two new K-Sim Full Mission Bridge simulators at the HMAS Watson Bridge Simulator Facility in Watsons Bay, Sydney, according to a 2 May statement by the Norway-based company.

The simulators will be used for the training of RAN officers and sailors undertaking all levels of ship-handling, navigation, warfare, and bridge management courses, said Kongsberg.

The company pointed out that the requirement for expansion and intensification of the RAN’s training programme is the result of a “sustained period of growth and capability enhancement for the navy”.
