The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has unveiled a new electro-optic (EO) sight system that is expected to provide a day/night rapid target acquisition capability to target small, fast-moving aerial threats such as incendiary balloons and kites.
The rifle fire-control system, based on a smart rifle sight named Pegion, is developed by Smart Shooter in collaboration with the Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MoD).
According to the company, the system, built into a weapon sight, is capable of combining real-time image processing with targeting algorithms that can automatically calculate a precise impact point by acquiring, locking, and tracking a moving target precisely.
