BAE Systems is looking to expand its industrial partnerships in India in line with an objective to increase outsourcing and exports from the Asian country.
Paul Smith, the chief procurement officer at BAE Systems, said in comments recently emailed to Jane's that the target is to develop an "effective and robust" supply chain across various levels of Indian industry.
While the aim is linked to BAE Systems' offset obligations within India, Smith said the outsourcing strategy also recognises opportunities that are "above and beyond offsets". The strategy is supported by a BAE Systems 'supplier summit' in New Delhi earlier in April, the second it has held in India in successive years.
