Contractors have until 13 May to respond to the Brazilian Navy’s request for information (RFI) for the service’s new proposed Antarctic support ship, Navio de Apoio Antártico (NApAnt).
Published on 22 February in the Brazilian official gazette and sent to several companies, the ship RFI is part of the navy’s Projeto de Obtenção de Navio de Apoio Antártico project, which seeks to purchase a single ship to replace the existing oceanographic support ship, NApOc Ary Rongel (H44).
No ship acquisition schedule has been publicly established, but the navy is looking to accelerate the ship’s delivery because the NApOc Ary Rongel has reached the end of its life-cycle.
