At a time when military forces are preparing for an era of urban combat, Iceni Labs is touting a new handheld radar designed to help troops detect the movement, position, and breathing rates of people behind walls and doors.
The company announced earlier this month that it had secured a GBP248,400 (USD 324,672) contract with the UK Ministry of Defence, under the Defence and Security Accelerator Scheme, for a SafeScan pilot project. During a 12 April interview with Jane's , Iceni Labs commercial director Alexander Giles discussed plans to test the handheld ultra-wide-band radar system in the UK, as well as the company's efforts to roll out the technology in Canada, France, and the US.
