Boeing has been awarded a second contract that is related to Saudi Arabia’s procurement of the Stand-off Land Attack Missile – Expanded Response (SLAM-ER), but it does not include the production of any missiles.

The US Department of Defense announced on 16 April that it had awarded the USD30 million contract modification to Boeing, saying it “continues the Phase 1 design maturity, analysis and test planning for the [SLAM-ER] production line for the government of Saudi Arabia”. The work, which also covers replacing obsolescent parts, is expected to be completed in July.

Boeing was awarded an initial USD64 million contract to restart the SLAM-ER production line for Saudi Arabia in April 2018.
