17 April 2019

Babcock has revealed that is selling its 50% stake in joint venture Helidax to partner Défense Conseil International (DCI).

The company declined to comment further on the transaction but noted that it "would not impact on any of our other operations in France or elsewhere".

Helidax undertakes helicopter maintenance on the platforms used for basic helicopter flight training at the EALAT school in Dax, France. The school trains pilots for the French Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Gendarmerie Nationale.

The business was the French MoD's first public-private partnership and was launched in 2008.

Babcock disclosed in its February trading update that the joint venture had been awarded a 10-year maintenance contract for the French Army's 18 Airbus Helicopters AS355N Fennec helicopters.
