The Swiss Armed Forces have awarded Thales a contract to supply elements of an imagery and geospatial intelligence (IMINT/GEOINT) centre. The contract, the value of which was not released, was signed at the end of March 2019 and deliveries are to begin in early 2020.
The new system will be based on the Thales Multisensor Image Interpretation and Dissemination System (MINDS). This can produce IMINT from reconnaissance and ground surveillance missions and from a range of imaging sensors including still imagery, electro-optical, infrared, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), moving target indication (MTI), and full motion video. MINDS has a flexible architecture that can range from a fixed national strategic level facility to a laptop-based tactical system.
