The New York National Guard (NYNG) is teaming up with the Brazilian military under the umbrella of the US National Guard's State Partnership Programme.
As part of the partnership, which was signed on 14 March, a NYNG "bilateral relations office will be assigned to the US Embassy in Brasilia to plan and co-ordinate training and exchange programmes," Southern Command said in a 15 March press release.
Several Latin American and Caribbean nations will participate in this initiative, including Belize with Louisiana, and Peru with West Virginia. The NYNG and South Africa have also been partners since 2003.
