Six Russian defence companies have been hit by a new round of sanctions, the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on 15 March.
The US said the defence companies being sanctioned were operating in Crimea had benefited from the “misappropriated Ukrainian state assets to provide services to the Russian military”, or had provided vessels to the Russia Federal Security Service, which was involved in the Kerch Straits incident in November 2018. The US Treasury said “all property and interests in property of the designated individuals and entities are blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from transacting with them”.
