The Brazilian Navy will significantly improve the command-and-control capability of three of its six Niterói-class Mk 10 frigates as part of the strategic Achieving Full Operational Capacity project.
The local privately owned company CONSUB Defesa e Tecnologia will modernise the ship’s SICONTA MK II combat management system (CMS) to SICONTA MK II Mod 1 version by 6 December 2021, through software and hardware updates.
The Naval Operations Command (ComOpNav) is in the final phase of selecting the ships that will have their CMS updated, the navy told Jane’s .
The project also will include updates for SICONTA MK IIs installed at Almirante Marques de Leão training center (CAAML) and Software Maintenance Laboratory (LMS).
