Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak signed the Armed Forces Technological Modernisation Plan (TMP) 2017-2026 on 28 February.
"Security has been, is, and will be a priority for us. The plan assumes modernisation worth PLN185 billion [USD48.7 billion]: PLN 45 billion more than the previous plan. This is a record plan when it comes to value," said the minister as he signed the document.
Błaszczak also stressed that as a rule the newly created 18th Mechanised Division will be prioritised for new equipment.
Having been delayed by almost 800 days, TMP 2017-26 already includes spending from 2017 and 2018, which amounted to about PLN8.8 billion and PLN12.5 billion respectively.
