The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) has progressively transitioned its naval aviation training operations to the Airbus EC-135T2+ helicopter and will soon phase out the Bell 429 from this role.

The final Bell 429 helicopter made its final public appearance at the 2019 Avalon Airshow, which took place from 26 February to 23 March, according to information published by the RAN's official news website Navy Daily.

The service previously operated a fleet of three Bell 429s to prepare its pilots for the MH-60R Seahawks or the MRH-90 helicopters. These helicopters were leased from a Raytheon-Bell partnership under a USD26 million deal signed in September 2011.
