The US Navy (USN) has issued a request for information (RFI) on 19 February for its next-generation large-surface combatant (LSC) class of warships.
The USN’s LSC programme will be a new acquisition programme that uses the guided-missile destroyer DDG 51 Flight III combat system as a template, according to the RFI, and also identifies and evaluates the integration of non-developmental mechanical and electrical systems into a new or modified hull design, incorporating platform flexibility and growth opportunities to meet future fleet requirements.
RFI responses are due by 1 April.
“A requirements analysis process has been conducted to determine initial draft requirements,” the USN RFI said.
