Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI; Stand 12-D22) and Spanish shipbuilding and systems group Navantia (Stand B-027) are to set up a new combat systems joint venture (JV).
Signed this week at IDEX, the accord will see the establishment of a JV known as SANNI (SAMI Navantia Naval Industries). SAMI will take a 51 per cent share in the new business, with Navantia holding the remainder.
SANNI will be responsible for the adaptation and integration of Navantia’s Cadiz combat management system for the Royal Saudi Naval Forces’ five new corvettes. Navantia was awarded a €1.8 billion contract in July 2018 for the ships, which are a derivative of its Avante 2200 design.
