On Day 3 of IDEX 2019, Brigadier Mohammed Khamis Al Hassani announced a further eight contracts awarded to foreign companies, to the value of AED515 million.
The deals favoured Russian, Jordanian, Pakistani, US, Turkish and French companies. NAVDEX spokesman Colonel Fahd Nasser Al-Dhahli said a total of 20 contracts went to local companies, worth AED4.4 billion. Added to the contracts with foreign firms, the total value came to AED4.9 billion.
The day’s major beneficiary was Al Jasoor, which received a contract worth AED2.43 billion ($660 million) covering the supply of an unspecified number of Arma 8x8 amphibious infantry fighting vehicles. Al Jasoor is a joint venture between Tawazun-owned Heavy Vehicles Industries and Otokar. Thales also received an AED93.7 million ($25.5 million) deal covering the Captas sonar.
Combining all the deals announced for the three days, the total value thus far stands at AED16.9 billion ($4.6 billion), the spokesmen indicated.
