Spain's Escribano has displayed its Sentinel 30 remotely controlled naval weapon system (RCWS) at IDEX 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
With the Sentinel 30, Escribano is moving from the light remotely control weapon system design to the 30/40 mm calibre, effectively expanding the addressable market to larger vessels and more demanding missions. Escribano already manufactures most of the necessary system subcomponents, including the electro-optical (EO/IR) fire control sensor.
Escribano Business Development Director Jocxan Bojorquez told Jane's , "We are known by the small calibre Guardian [RCWS]. Now we have to say that we are not only a Guardian weapon system manufacturer, we have a family of remotely controlled weapon systems [..] We have jumped from small to medium calibres because it just feels natural".
