Pentagon could pay up to USD6.1 billion for Trump border wall

15 February 2019

US President Donald Trump has set plans into motion to siphon nearly USD8 billion from various accounts, including the Department of Defense's (DoD's) military construction account, to pay for the construction of a wall along the US southern border.

In a 15 February televised address from the White House, Trump said he would sign a 'State of Emergency' along the US border with Mexico before adding, "I didn't need to do this", but "I just want to get it done faster". His cornerstone campaign promise was to build a wall along the US southern border that was to be financed by the Mexican government.
