The Spanish Navy (Armada Española) has decided to relocate two of its divisional headquarters, which will see its main Naval Action Force (Fuerza de Acción Naval - FAN) staff being concentrated in one base in the southern port of Rota.
Also on the move is the Marines´ Protection Force (FUPRO) headquarters, which will transfer to the Atlantic base of Ferrol in the northwest region of Galicia.
The Rota switch will mean the Armada's Naval Action Group 1 (COMGRUP-1) staff at Ferrol joining up with the existing FAN group headquarters at what will in future be known as the Cuartel General Marítimo de Alta Disponibilidad (High Readiness Headquarters).
