Russia could be planning to return to a configuration of six military districts (MDs) covering the country instead of the current four, according to state-owned newspaper Argumenty i fakty .
On 4 February the newspaper reported that the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) will divide the Central and Western MDs in half during 2019 and 2020 respectively.
