The MRTT flew nearly 11 hours to France's Détachement Air (Air Detachment) 181 at Saint-Denis, La Réunion, in the Indian Ocean, on 15 January, where it joined two Rafale combat aircraft from the FAF's 4e Escadre de Chasse (4th Fighter Wing) on their way to Djibouti to their home base at Saint-Dizier. On 17 January the aircraft flew back to France with the two Rafales, refuelling them simultaneously from its underwing pods five times on the way home.
