Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has established a new Armoured Systems Complex (ASC) facility at its Hazira Complex site in Gujarat, India.
Opened by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the new 40 acre (16.19 ha) ASC will initially be used to carry out work on the K-9 Vajra (Thunderbolt), a modified version of the Hanwha Techwin K-9 Thunder 155 mm/52-calibre tracked self-propelled howitzer, that is being developed under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative for the Indian army.
This new facility sits within the company’s 755-acre Hazira Manufacturing Complex, and contains high-end machinery and automation aids, feeder shops, and mobility test tracks for acceptance and qualification of armoured vehicles, L&T said.
