The Brazilian Army is considering a number of proven attack and medium-sized multirole helicopters as possible candidates to meet two separate requirements of its Army Aviation Strategic Programme (Prg EE Av Ex).
Testing of several candidate platforms was conducted by the Testing and Assessment Group (GEA) of the Army Aviation Command (CAvEx), with the results now being analysed. The Prg EE Av Ex programme, which was implemented in 2017 for BRL4.9 billion (USD1.3 billion), is scheduled to be complete by 2039.
The ‘Obtaining Attack Capacity’ project involves the acquisition of between 12 and 24 attack/assault helicopters from 2021, instead of 2031 as initially planned.
