Pratt & Whitney (P&W) and Meggitt have signed a long-term agreement covering the delivery of composite components for the F135 and F119 fighter engines.
Under the 10-year agreement, worth some USD750 million, Meggitt will deliver the parts for the engines on the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter and F-22 Raptor, extending an existing relationship that has resulted in composite parts being delivered for a range of P&W military and civil powerplants.
The parts will be developed at the Meggitt Polymers & Composites facility in San Diego, California, which was officially opened in August 2018 and combined two existing sites that totalled 75,000 ft 2 (6,967 m 2 ) into a single nearby facility that provided 120,000 ft 2 of expanded capacity.
