Polish and Lithuanian territorial armies agree to co-operate
Krzysztof Kuska, Poznan - Jane's Defence Weekly
21 January 2019
The commander of the Polish territorial army (the Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej [WOT]), General Wiesław Kukuła, signed a co-operation agreement with Lithuanian territorial army (KASP) commander Colonel Dainius Pašvenskas on 18 January.
Under the agreement, the two territorial armies will conduct joint training and exercises, which Gen Kukuła said would include the Polish exercises 'Dragon' and 'Defender'.
During its creation, the WOT implemented ideas from the KASP, according to Gen Kukuła.
The agreement will be implemented mainly by Poland's 1st Podlaska Territorial Defence Brigade, which is partnered with the KASP and based in the Podlaskie province bordering Lithuania.
