US Army seeks emerging technologies for urban combat

The US Army is preparing to test out a host of new technologies in experiments throughout the country with an eye towards preparing for conflicts in dense urban terrain.
In a recent notice posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the service asked industry and academia to send in technology suggestions for a series of materiel experiments (MATEx) later this year and into 2020. While the army did not list which US cities will host the experiments, it said it wants to verify the readiness levels of new and future concepts, and for technologies to drive investment decisions.
“The venues will seek to provide various dense urban stressors within the multi-domains/dimensions to provide conditions and challenges,” the army said.
