US unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturer General Atomics announced the teaming with five Belgian organisations on 15 January as part of the sale of MQ-9B SkyGuardian UAVs to the country.
Memoranda of understanding (MOU) were signed between General Atomics and SABCA, Thales Belgium, Esterline, DronePort, and Newtec, covering a range of subsystem development and integration, component supply, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) work. General Atomics estimates that the overall economic value of the agreements will be more than EUR100 million (USD114 million) throughout the life of the programme.
The MOU with SABCA will involve the co-operation for production and maintenance repair operations (MRO) activities, including initial in-country entry into service and support for the Belgian systems.
