Almost twice as many potential carrier aircraft pilot recruits have passed the People’s Liberation Army Navy Air Force (PLANAF) initial selection test during the 2019 annual recruitment campaign compared with the previous year, according to information posted on the PLAN’s website on 13 January.
More than 4,500 potential pilots passed the enrolment examinations, compared with 2,600 in 2018. They will now undergo physical and psychological testing as well as political examinations, and the process should conclude by April. Of the 2,600 to pass initial selection last year, 800 entered the final selection phase. That said, the number of those who entered the training pipeline has not been made public.
