The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) expects to announce in early March the industry competitors that qualified for its Launch Challenge (DLC).

DARPA said on 9 January that these companies will have cleared a three-step qualification process. The three-steps are pre-qualification, DARPA application and qualification, and receiving a “complete enough” designation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). DARPA said this means an application contains substantive responses to all of the relevant regulations.
