At a time when rapid technology advancements are set to change how militaries operate, the US Army Science Board is exploring battlefield uses of artificial intelligence (AI) and asking for feedback.
In a forthcoming study, the service is set to explore three key objectives: identify unique hurdles and opportunities for the army in the AI arena; identify potential battlefield functions where the service can use AI to shore up its operational and tactical performance; and decide how industry, laboratories, and academia can help it leverage new AI technology and techniques.
In a 7 January announcement on the Federal Business Opportunities website, the service announced it was moving out with the AI study this year and is requesting outside help to complete the analysis.
