Algeria displays new Chinese self-propelled mortars

(Algerian Ministry of National Defence)The Algerian National Army has acquired 120 mm SM4 self-propelled mortars made by the Chinese company Norinco. The acquisition was revealed when the Algerian Ministry of National Defence (MND) released photographs and footage showing a visit to the 2nd Military Region by Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Ahmed Gaïd Salah on 7 January.

Six SM4s were seen firing during an exercise that the MND said was carried out in Sidi Bel Abbès province and involved units from the 36th Motorised Infantry Brigade and 8th Armoured Division.
