The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has used different methods to neutralise two of the five attack tunnels it has found running under the Lebanese border.
A tunnel running from the Lebanese border village of Ayta al-Shab into northern Israel was demolished with a controlled explosion on 26 December, while one that began at Kafr Kela was sealed using cement on 27 December. In the latter operation cement overflowed into a disused concrete factory on the Lebanese side of the border that the IDF said was a digging site.
"This fact points to Hizbullah's use of civilian structures in the urban areas of southern Lebanon, while blatantly violating United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701 and using Lebanese civilians as human shields," it said.
