- The Royal Thai Navy has received its first South Korean-built multipurpose frigate
- The vessel will bolster the country's anti-submarine capabilities and is on track for commissioning in 2019
South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) has delivered a 122 m frigate on order for the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), the service's public affairs and civil relations office confirmed with Jane's on 19 December.
The vessel, which will be in service as HTMS Tachin (471) once commissioned, was ceremonially handed over to senior RTN officials and the vessel's pioneering crew on 14 December at DSME's facilities in Okpo, South Korea.
