The US anticipates its forces will be challenged by like forces deployed by Russia and China on a constant basis, said Rear Admiral Doug Perry, US Navy (USN) director of Joint and Fleet Operations, US Fleet Forces Command.
The US must increase its training to prepare for such threats, Rear Adm Perry said on 8 November during the Naval Submarine League Annual 36th Symposium and Industry Update.
"Every F-18 that launches off a carrier, every reconnaissance aircraft, can expect and plan to have an encounter with a Russian or Chinese equivalent," he said.
"It is much the same for other platforms as well," he added.
