SVBIED attack kills at least three people in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan

07 December 2018

AT LEAST three people - including two police officers - were killed and 48 others were wounded when a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (SVBIED) was detonated near the police headquarters in the city of Chabahar in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province on 6 December, Reuters reported. Reports stated that the device was detonated after police opened fire on the vehicle. Ansar al-Furqan claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the attack had been conducted as a result of a lack of opportunity for civic activity and that the group stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of Iran and Baluchestan in struggling against the Velayat-e Faqih regime.
