Bidders emerge for US Army’s recompeted Common Driver Trainer programme
Giles Ebbutt, Orlando - Jane's International Defence Review
06 December 2018
A number of bidders for the US Army’s recompeted Common Driver Trainer (CDT) programme emerged at the 2018 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando in November.
The CDT is a full-motion driver trainer with a slide-in, slide-out cab configuration to simulate several different vehicles, including HMMWV, Stryker, Abrams main battle tanks, and various mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) trucks. The programme has had a somewhat chequered history, with a previous recompete won by Raydon subsequently being cancelled and an interim contract awarded to SAIC, the original contractor. The current incumbent is Leidos, which inherited the programme when it split from SAIC.
