In a 5 December report on the introduction into service and sustainment planning of the aircraft, the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) referred to issues raised by an independent assurance review regarding the immaturity of the Global Support Solution (GSS) for the JSF being provided by the US Department of Defense.
The October 2018 assurance review, produced by an independent board convened within the Australian Department of Defence (DoD), said the availability of spare parts for the JSF was proving a challenge and in the board's view would not be fully resolved for a number of years.
