Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak signed the Armed Forces Development Programme for 2017-26 on 28 November. The document is classified, but the Polish Ministry of National Defence (MND) released some key points of the programme. It stated that combat and operational capabilities would be improved, especially on Poland's northeastern flank.
The formation of the 18th Mechanised Division will be accelerated, the 16th Division will be fleshed out, and an anti-tank regiment will be re-established in Suwałki.
The Polish territorial army, the Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej (WOT), and cyber defence forces will continue to be built up.
