Iran has “just test-fired a medium-range ballistic missile [MRBM] that’s capable of carrying multiple warheads”, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on 1 December.
He did not identify the type of missile used or say when the test happened, but added that it violated UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2231, which underpins the Iranian nuclear deal that the US withdrew from earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Israel’s ambassador to the UN submitted a letter dated 23 November to the secretary-general and president of the Security Council claiming that Iran launched Shahab-3 MRBMs in January, May, and June and its more powerful Khorramshahr missile in April.
