A new S-400 air-defence system (ADS) battery has completed trials and will soon be deployed to Crimea, Russia's Southern Military District (SMD) announced in a press release on 27 November.
The battery will be assigned to the 18th Sevastopol-Feodosia Surface-to-Air Missile Regiment of the SMD's 4th Air and Air Defence Forces Army.
The new battery successfully conducted its first test firings at the 4th State Central Combined Arms Test Range in the Astrakhan region, engaging low-flying, high-speed, and ballistic targets. The ability of the ADS to withstand vibrations during road transportation was also checked. The battery is currently being prepared for deployment to Crimea by rail.
